Translation

I translate from English and French into Spanish. After years living in English and French speaking countries, I can perceive nuances that may go unnoticed for others.

w

Interpreting

I also offer interpreting services, which is similar to translation, but spoken instead of written. I can provide simultaneous and telephone interpreting, as well as chuchotage.

Proofreading

As a masala translator, I also take care of revising texts translated by professional colleagues, as four eyes are better than two. I undertake both standard and comparative proofreading.

ABOUT ME

Once upon a time there was a language lover who studied English and Translation and Interpreting. She spent a number of years working in different roles (including as a translator, an interpreter and a coordinator), and living in different countries. The country she stayed in the longest was India, where she learnt a great deal: she developed a specialism in medical and pharmaceutical translation; she trained as a yoga teacher; she studied the country’s customs, history, and languages… And, after a while, she moved back to Spain and became a freelance translator from English and French into Spanish.

Indeed, that person is me: Aida. After falling under India’s spell, its flavours linger on my skin, so you could say I am a bit ‘masala’. Just as Indian chai mixes different spices to provide a unique experience, so I combine my specialization in medical and pharmaceutical translation with the translation of tourism texts and those related to India, yoga, and meditation, among other things.

If you would like to know more about my professional background, please visit my LinkedIn profile.

And if you know Spanish and want to know what it’s like living in India, check out my website Historias masala. In Lo que la India me enseñó, fiction mingles with real-life experiences of the country; and my blog offers trivial, but revealing, insights into India.

FEATURED PROJECT

My work

In the world of translation, our work is often subject to confidentiality clauses; hence, I cannot disclose exactly what I have translated, but I can tell you that some of the projects I have worked on include clinical trials and reports for big pharma companies, staff training courses for a clothing brand, user guides for different devices, and tourism websites.

However, you can take a look at one of my projects from 2019: my translation of a report on sexual abuse within the Catholic Church in Latin America produced by the London-based NGO Child Rights International Network, which protects children’s rights. You can read both their original report and the translation into Spanish on CRIN’s website.

And if you want to see a sample of my writing in Spanish, you can always visit the website Historias masala, where you will find my book, Lo que la India me enseñó, and my blog on India and her culture.
